春晖 (Chunhui) Chinese Learning Series is a series aimed at addressing teenagers’ needs for learning Mandarin Chinese in a fun, relevant and engaging way without neglecting the relevant requirements of the  International Curriculum for Chinese Language Education published by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban).

            春晖 (Chunhui) Chinese Learning Series is structured into 3 levels. Each level comes with one Student’s Book and one Exercise Book. The key texts and conversations as well as key exercises in listening are accompanied by audio performed by native speaker voice talents. The accompanying audio and Teacher’s Guide are available online.

            By finishing all 3 levels of  春晖 (Chunhui), Chinese Learning Series, a student will be familiarised with more than 400 Chinese vocabulary items needed to pass the level 2 of Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK). This is a standardised language proficiency test for non-native Chinese speakers.

In 春晖 (Chunhui) Chinese Learning Series, students as well as the teachers are invited to engage in fun and meaningful ways of learning and drilling the followings:

1. Pronunciation and Chinese phonetics with Pinyin following a step by step approach, starting with the sounds that are close or similar to English phonetics to the more complex and distinctly different sounds of Chinese phonetics.
2. Basic techniques of writing and understanding Chinese characters by introducing commonly used Chinese radicals and the standardised stroke orders, which are crucial in assisting students to memorise and write Chinese characters.
3. New vocabulary by introducing it in context, be it in an illustrated (pictorial) context or in a narrative context, which will train the students to analyse, infer and understand the vocabulary in its real use.
4. Grammatical points in class activities. The important and sometimes deemed to be confusing and difficult grammatical points, as well as the new vocabulary, are drilled by putting them into practice in fun and engaging class activities.
5. The exercises in the Exercise Book and Student’s Book are systematically prepared to help the students to review and further drill the language skills that they have learned in class.
